Demand For HIGH-QUALITY Windows Revealed

The Residence Collection reveals demand for high-quality windows among homeowners

19 June 2023: After a few years of turbulence in the British housing market homeowners are still looking to make their next move, and new research conducted by premium window and door designer, The Residence Collection has revealed exactly what today’s prospective buyers are looking for, and if sellers can boost their home value with additional features.

  1. The new data established what house hunters are searching for when viewing a new home. These are: Outdoor space (63%)
  2. Good neighbourhood (61%)
  3. Reasonably priced property (51%)
  4. Parking spaces (49%)
  5. Double or triple glazed windows (49%)

While exterior and location factors came out on top, double and triple glazed windows were a high priority when it came to the functionality of a new home.

However, the survey data also revealed that a massive nine in 10 respondents (93%) claimed they were willing to pay over the asking price on a new home to have additional features, with the average cost they are willing to pay being £9,956. These included:

  1. Double or triple glazed windows (34%)
  2. Good neighbourhood (33%)
  3. New kitchen fittings (31%)
  4. New boiler (30%)
  5. Solar panels (29%)

With more than a third of British house hunters happy to consider offering over the asking price for a new home with double or triple glazed windows, homeowners can really boost the value of their property in this way.

And it’s no surprise when thinking about what new windows can do for a home. Modern windows significantly upgrade a property, but other benefits include helping to lower energy bills by working to control the temperature no matter what the season, improve noise levels and offer better security.

The Residence Collection window experts uniquely designed three core ranges to authentically replicate traditional timber windows but are made from modern PVC materials, keeping them up to date with everyday life.

Experts from The Residence Collection have also created a range of more than 25 colours from timeless classics like Grained White to modern favourites such as Eclectic Grey. Plus, dual finish is available that allows homeowners to find windows that look as good from the inside as they do from the outside.

Commenting on the research, Jo Trotman, Marketing Manager of The Residence Collection, said: “It’s really positive, and incredibly interesting to be able to see what home buyers are interested in when searching for a new home.

“High-quality windows are pivotal in the function of any home. The survey confirms that bigger ticket home improvements such as double and triple glazed windows are at the top of homebuyers’ agendas, which will ultimately boost people’s home values when it comes to selling.

“The Residence Collection has a variety of windows and doors in exclusive colour combinations, and with our expertise we can support homeowners in updating and modifying all types of homes before putting their property on the market.”
